Overview
ONVIF is a global industry forum that develops standardised interfaces for IP-based physical security products. Bright Company was appointed to build and manage its GCC PR and communications programme across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Bright Company was appointed in February 2025 to build and manage the ONVIF PR and communications programme across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Following a successful first year, the partnership was renewed and expanded for 2026–2027, covering strategic PR, media relations, thought leadership, regional social content, blogs, speaker opportunities, event support and ongoing communications counsel.
The challenge
ONVIF operates in a highly specialised sector.
While interoperability, open standards and trusted security infrastructure are increasingly important, these subjects can be difficult to translate into stories that feel relevant beyond technical audiences.
The challenge was not simply to generate media coverage. It was to make the ONVIF role understandable, timely and valuable to journalists, business leaders and industry stakeholders across the GCC.
Bright Company needed to create a communications programme that would:
- increase regional awareness of ONVIF;
- connect its expertise to national and industry priorities;
- establish senior spokespeople as credible media voices;
- create a consistent flow of relevant content;
- support ONVIF and its visibility at major regional events.
Our GCC PR & Communications approach
Bright Company developed a long-term communications approach built around regional relevance.
Rather than leading with technical standards alone, we connected ONVIF expertise to the issues already shaping conversations across the GCC, including AI, smart cities, infrastructure, mobility, public safety, digital trust and resilient security ecosystems.
The approach was built around two central principles.
One: align ONVIF with regional priorities
We positioned ONVIF’s work within the context of national development and transformation agendas across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
This created a clearer narrative around the role open standards can play in:
- building safer and smarter cities;
- supporting AI-enabled security;
- future-proofing infrastructure;
- improving transport and mobility;
- strengthening public trust;
- supporting long-term economic growth.
Two: turn technical expertise into accessible stories
We translated specialist topics such as interoperability, video authenticity, metadata, analytics and open standards into clear, media-ready themes.
This allowed ONVIF to engage not only security trade media, but also regional business, technology, construction, infrastructure and mainstream outlets.
The strategy also established a clear communications rhythm: introduce ONVIF to relevant media, create reasons for journalists to engage with its spokespeople, and sustain visibility through ongoing commentary, interviews, opinion content, announcements and event activity.

Rather than a series of ad-hoc or isolated placements, the strategy and the results show a more consistent and credible regional presence across business, technology and security media.

Ongoing partnership
The next phase is focused on building greater depth across media relations, executive thought leadership, regional social content, blogs, events and speaker engagement.
The programme continues to position ONVIF as an authoritative voice on interoperability, open standards and trusted physical security across the GCC.
