Proactive Media Relations to Secure Next Day Business Breakfast Interview
business breakfast dubai media relations - Bright thinking to leverage the news agenda for client coverage
Bright Company media relations team worked with Neptune P2P Group, a global risk management and maritime security company. A significant part of their business is protecting vessels as they pass through dangerous waterways such as the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Guinea.

When the Ever Given found itself stuck in the Suez Canal in 2021, it brought world trade to a standstill. It also meant shipping companies had a decision to make – reroute around Africa or wait it out. Rerouting around Africa would involve passing two pirate-infested waterways, adding a whole new dynamic to the crisis.
There are two types of media relations, reactive media relations and proactive media relations. Proactive media relations strengthens brand relationships with media, and if done right, can create “go to” spokespeople for media channels. This means that when a quote, interview or thought-piece is needed, a media outlet will contact the PR agency or internal team to arrange an interview. Often this also requires that spokespeople need to be readily available, be media trained, and aligned with brand messaging. A briefing ahead of the call will also add value to any media engagement.

Suez Canal Crisis + Somali Pirates? Bright Company’s media relations team pitched the angle to the producers of Business Breakfast on Dubai Eye. They loved it. Even so much as to say “if you have any more awesome pitches like the one you sent, do send it over. I’ve been using parts of it to show PRs how to get a yes from me more often – I say no to 98% of pitches!”
